Marathon Training Program Review - by GG

I'm a few weeks into a new marathon training program that I read about in Runner's World. More information about it can be found at: F.I.R.S.T.

The premises of the marathon training program is three key workouts each week: interval, tempo and long run.

I will post weekly summaries of my workouts and how I feel. Rubber meets road March 26th, 2006 at the Knoxville Marathon to see if this is an effective method for marathon training. This will be my 11th marathon so have some basis for comparison.

Week of 2/13
Interval Workout 3 x 1 mile (5:45 minutes) with 4oom rest interval
Tempo Run 5 miles at Marathon Pace
Long Run 20 miles at Marathon Pace + 30 seconds.
